Composite is tooth coloured filling material. Composite bonding describes the use of composite to make teeth look better. Composite bonding can be done to a single tooth or to multiple teeth, depending on clinical need.
In simple cases the composite can be added ‘freehand’ by the dentist, but in more complex cases digital technology can be used to design the desired ‘smile’. Once a ‘smile design’ has been approved by the patient, 3D models and stents are created to accurately create the new smile in the mouth.
Composite bonding is not suitable for everyone, and a thorough assessment is required to establish suitability on a case-by-case basis.
